A Google search found NOTHING about the upcoming reunion for anyone associated with Reserve High School, in Catron County New Mexico. In case anyone else is looking and didn't get anything in the mail, here's the scoop.
Dates: July 15-17
Cost: $20/Single, $40/Couple, kids no cost. Send to RHS Reunion, P.O. Box 693 Reserve, NM 87830
Starts with a dance and reception at Uncle Bill's Bar. Saturday is the big day. Starts at the gym, then a BBQ and Dance, I'm guessing at the Fair Grounds. Sunday is a brunch and church service. Contact Ray Estrada if you want to volunteer or donate a prize, 505-533-6477.
I can't make it this year, regretably. I always love going back to the place I still consider "home".
If you are not from Reserve, here you probably don't have a frame of reference. It took over 60 years to graduate the first 1000 students, so there's no point in a "class reunion." It would be you, a couple of drunks, and your old year book. So we have school wide reunions. In a small town like Reserve (pop. 353) you knew kids and their families that were years older and younger. (Of course, there were other towns that fed into the high school. How could anyone forget Glenwood, The Y, Luna, Aragon, Apache Creek and of course, my old stomping grounds, Cruzville.)
What I hate about reunions in general is that the people you'd most like to see don't show up. Some folks never change, others have changed so much you can't even recognize them. What I love is going and seeing that I'm holding up pretty well compared to some...
