On Sunday, September 9, I'll be starting a new teaching series called HDLife. Everyone has or wants a hi-def television. They offer stunning picture clarity, vibrant colors and a picture that is truer to real life than anything before it.
Sometimes, the pressures and challenges of everyday life keep us preoccupied enough that we never take time to look beneath the surface. We just get up, go through the motions, go to bed, get up and do it again, and years can pass virtually unnoticed.
This month, I want to talk about life in high definition, hence, HDLife. I’d like for us to be able to lift our eyes from the grind long enough to ask some significant questions about our lives? Where do I find my identity? Where do I find my sense of worth? Where do I find acceptance?
If you’ve been a church-goer for most of your life, you probably know the right answers to these questions. But are they the true answers? We have an amazing capacity for self-deception, and I hope that in the next few weeks, we can discover some of the deception that has kept us from living the life we were meant to live.
This week I’ll spend a lot more time describing some of the deception we are under, then in coming weeks, we’ll really dig in and God’s plan for overcoming that deception. I'll be posting quotes and stories before and after my talks. For example....
"Satan's primary weapon is not temptation, but condemnation." Charles Culpepper
